Obituary

William Jackson (Bill) White
February 24, 1945- November 6, 2019

William Jackson (Bill) White, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at home in Stephenville with family at his side on Wednesday, November 6, 2019

Funeral services will be at Faith Lutheran Church on Sunday, November 10, at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Dublin Live Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Stephenville Funeral Home 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday at Stephenville Funeral Home

Bill was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Ralph Wallace White and Edith Venay (Jackson) White on February 24, 1945. Growing up, he moved frequently to small Texas towns where his father was a project engineer for the Soil Conservation Service. He graduated from Brownwood High School in 1963 and attended Angelo State College in San Angelo. On June 4, 1966, he married his high school sweetheart Marlene Ratzow. During their 53 years of marriage, they traveled to many places across the country and also to Mexico, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Costa Rica, Panama, Columbia, Australia, and New Zealand.

Bill worked in the technical publication business in the DFW area for 30 years and was an art department supervisor. The family moved to Stephenville in 1985. After retiring from Global Group Incorporated in 1997, he was able to devote more time to his true vocation as a farmer and rancher. He also worked for the Stephenville ISD transportation department from 2003-2017.

Bill was active in his church at Holy Cross Lutheran in Arlington and Faith Lutheran in Stephenville. He served in many ways, including school superintendent at Holy Cross and elder at Faith. His 2 and half-year battle with cancer demonstrated his faith and trust in God.

Bill is survived by his wife Marlene and two daughters: Wendy Thornell and husband John, and Whitney White-Lee; grandchildren Noah and Adelaide Ashley; Abby, Jake, and Lily Thornell; and step-grandchildren Hannah and Tyler Lee.

Besides his parents, Bill was also preceded in death by his brother Ralph Wallace White, Jr., and his sister Linda Venay White.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society or Faith Lutheran Church.
